John L. Mascia

John L. Mascia, 91, Altoona, passed away Friday at Hillview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Samuel A. and Irene H. (Smith) Mascia. He later married Jane E. D’Ottavio and she preceded him in death on July 31, 2020.

He is survived by a brother, Karl (Karen) Mascia; two cousins: Frank and Paolo D’Ottavio; two nephews; and a special friend, Sandee Kitt, of Altoona.

John served as a Private First Class in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

He served in the Altoona Fire Department as Fire Marshall for many years. He also worked as a plumber and enjoyed doing home remodeling.

John was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Friends will be received from 10 to the 11 a.m. service Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2022 at the Santella Funeral Home, Altoona. Services will conclude with military honors. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
