John J. Rettburg

John Joseph Rettburg, 63, Altoona, passed away unexpectedly Friday July 26, 2024, at his home. He was born in Blasdell, N.Y., the son of John C. Rettburg and Nicola (Lamont) Kaltenbrunner.

Surviving are his father, John Rettburg, in North Carolina; his mother, Nicola (Lamont) Kaltenbrunner, in Virginia.; step parent, Ned White, in Pennsylvania; sister, Kimberley Halsey, in Virginia; and brother, Michael White and wife, LaTrenda, in Missouri.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel P. Rettburg.

John was a 1978 graduate of Altoona Area High School.

He was always a protector of his sister and brothers.

John worked at Newborn Enterprises Inc. and Fed Ex.

He loved kayaking the Juniata River with friends, riding his motorcycles, enjoying a beer at The Old Dutch Grill and spoiling his dogs.

Friends will be received from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Santella Funeral Home, where a memorial service will follow the visitation at 1 p.m.
