Joseph D. ‘Joe’ Ruggiero Jr.

Joseph D. “Joe” Ruggiero Jr., 69, Altoona, passed away Saturday morning surrounded by family at his home. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Joseph Sr. and Lois (Roessing) Ruggiero.
Surviving are his sons: Joseph “Joey” Ruggiero, Jason (Aleka) Ruggiero and Justin Ruggiero; a special nephew, whom he loved like a son, Robby Kenawell; eight grandchildren; three sisters: Polly (Dave) Servello, Karen (Tom) Kruise and Lisa (Allen) McManus; a nephew; and several nieces.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Brad Ruggiero.
He was a 1973 Altoona Area High School graduate, and was owner of Lakeside Auto.
Joe enjoyed auto auctions, playing cards with friends and family, and sharing a “good” story over a drink.
He was a member of the Catholic War Vets, Cesare Battisti Club, and the UVA.
Joe was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
A special thanks to sister and caregiver, Lisa, for her dedication and commitment to taking care of Joe for more than 10 years.
Friends will be received from 3 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Santella Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held following the visitation at 6 p.m. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
