Julia Laura Obituary

Julia A. Laura, 93, Altoona, passed away Wednesday at Garvey Manor in Hollidaysburg. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Michael and Madeline (Farretti) Giosa. She married John J. Laura and he preceded her in death in 2016.

Surviving is a daughter, Joni Laura, of California; a son, Joseph Laura, of Michigan; 3 grandchildren: Jay Laura, Kami Cornelio and Bayleigh Bogan; and a sister, AdelineNazzaretta.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Judyth Laura Mielnik; and siblings: Sylivia Sabatine, Virgina Stachmus and Rudy Giosia.

Julia was a 1944 graduate of Altoona High School and was co-owner of LaJo's Italian Market.

She was the first City Councilwoman of Altoona and belonged to the ISDA, Italian Sons and Daughters of America.

Julia was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.

Due to the current impact of Covid-19, services will be held privately at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. As circumstances permit, a Celebration of Life will be held for Julia later this year.
