Lana G. James, 74, Altoona, passed away Wednesday at Select Specialty Hospital in Johnstown. She was born in Lilly, daughter of the late Anthony and Ruth (O’Malley) Mattiello. On Dec. 12, 1977 she married Charles Jesse James who preceded her in death on March 10, 2006.
She is survived by two sons: Anthony and Adam (Melissa) James; a granddaughter, Samantha; a grandchild, “Baby Bean,” on the way; a sister, Linda Cacciotti, her children and their families; a brother, John Mattiello, his children and their families; sister-in-law, Linda Mattiello; an aunt, Marie Tremel; the entire James family, including her stepchildren, nieces and nephews as well as their children.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Gary Mattiello.
Lana was an Altoona High School graduate and worked as a teacher’s aide for the school district in the GED office.
She enjoyed reading books, vacationing at the beach, and spending time with her friends, family, and granddaughter. As an animal lover, she enjoyed the company of her dog, Beau, and cat, Gizmo.
At the request of the deceased, services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are by Santella Funeral Home.
