Leone M. Amato, 97, Altoona, passed away Saturday, surrounded by family, at her home. She was born in Sury, France, daughter of the late Victor and Jeanne (Caruso) Courcelle. On Feb. 23, 1946 she married Albert F. Amato and he preceded her in death on March 30, 2001.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Jack) Conrad, of Altoona; 3 grandchildren: Jason (Sarah) Conrad, Ashley Conrad, and Devin Conrad (Monica Ingham); 3 great-grandchildren: Clara, Jack, and Cohen; and her two dogs, Teddy and Button.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary and a brother, Leon Courcelle.
Leone worked for SKF, Proctor Silex, and retired as a supervisor for Investigative Protective Service.
Leone enjoyed gardening, needle point, crocheting, and coloring. She was a member of the Holliday Bowl Club and the Bavarian Aid Society.
She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Friends will be received from 4-7pm Friday, June 18, 2021 in the Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church with committal at Calvary Cemetery.
