Louis A. Bonasso, 88, Altoona, passed away Saturday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Samuel and Mary (Belcastro) Bonasso. He married Dorothy M. Clapper on May 28, 1955, in Altoona.
Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years; two sons: Samuel P. (Mardell) of Altoona and Mark A. (Cindy) of Pittsburgh; two grandsons: Samuel P. Jr. (Erin) of N.C. and Anthony (Mary) of Altoona; two granddaughters: Kristin (Matthew) Gardner and Kylie (Matthew) Roth of Pittsburgh; four great-granddaughters: Thalia, Eleanor, Taylor, and Emilia; a sister, Margaret of Utah; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Bonasso of Coraopolis.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William; and a granddaughter, Kaitlyn.
Louis was an Altoona High School graduate. He retired from the City of Altoona and the Altoona City Water Authority after many years of service.
He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and active in the Faithful Followers group.
Louis was a member of the United States Naval Reserves from 1950-57. He was a member of the Calabria Heritage and Culture Club of Pittsburgh and a member of the Myasthenia Gravis Association of Western Pennsylvania.
A private visitation will be held by the family at their convenience. Interment will take place at Alto-Reste Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Santella Funeral Home.
