Lucille Crawford Obituary

Lucille “Lucy” Ann Crawford, 73, Hollidaysburg, passed away Friday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Ralph A. Sr. and Mary G. (Spallone) DeStefano.

She married Frederick Crawford at Our Lady of Mount Carmel on Sept. 11, 1971. 

Lucy is survived by her loving husband of 49 years; a daughter, Brittany (Brent) Massar, of Oakmont; a stepdaughter, Michelle (Michael) Speicher, of Bear, Del.; three grandchildren: Calvin Massar, and Megan and Matthew Speicher; a sister, Doris Daniels, of Altoona; two sisters-in-law, Matilda and Margaret DeStefano; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her brothers: Ralph, Michael and Joseph DeStefano; and an infant sister, MaryAnn DeStefano. 

Lucy was a graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle High School and the Altoona School of Commerce. She worked as an insurance specialist at Altoona Hospital for 42 years. 

She enjoyed spending time with her family and playing games with her grandchildren, holiday and beach vacations with family, and “breakfast with the girls.” 

Lucy volunteered at Contact Altoona, helping those in need and was a devout Catholic.  

She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. 

Lucy’s legacy is one of love and selfless helping of family and friends. 

Thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff in the ICU at UPMC Altoona, and a special thank you to her friend, Paula Stellabotte and dear niece, Robyn Daniels for their tireless support. 

In Lucy’s memory, please wear a mask, social distance, and take care of one another. 

A private viewing will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends will be received at the 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass, Friday Feb. 5, 2021, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery. A celebration of Lucy’s life will be held in the summer.

Arrangements are by Santella Funeral Home. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Lucy’s honor may be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
