Madeline R. (Ciaverella) Launchi

Madeline R. Launchi, Scranton, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She enjoyed 98 years of a wonderful life. She was married to the love of her life, Alexander P. Launchi, for 57 years. Together, they enjoyed their many trips to Florida for the winter and trips visiting their grandchildren.

Madeline was the daughter of Matteo and Maria Luccia (Argentino) Ciaverella. She resided most of her life in Altoona, PA. She was a member of Mount Carmel Parish. Madeline was an excellent cook and enjoyed making her Italian dishes and treats for her family. She loved spending time with family and friends reminiscing the old times. She enjoyed playing cards and working on crossword puzzles. Madeline especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are her three sons. Alexander, and wife Kathleen, of Scranton, PA, Thomas, and wife Rebecca, of St. Petersburg, FL, and John, and wife Linda, of Morristown, NJ.; nine grandchildren: Stephen (Ann) Launchi, Brian Launchi, Michael Lochie, Natalie (Ed) Dolinish, Angela (Joe) Haning, John (Jen) Launchi Jr., Julie (Tom) Olivo, R.J. and Nick Steele; nine great grandchildren: Sophia Launchi, Evan Lochie, Joey, Maddie, and John Robert Haning, Hannah and Margot Launchi, Dean and Dante Olivo; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend our heartfelt thanks to our friends and neighbors for all their support and comfort and their prayers during the difficult times. Special thanks to Dr. Linda Frantz for her exceptional care, The Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their compassion and care, and her caregivers Holly, Karen and sister-in-law, Patricia for their tireless help and concern. Also to Father Thomas Muldowney for his comfort and prayers.

Friends will be received from 6-8pm Thursday, April 21, 2022 in the Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am Friday, April 22, 2022 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
