Margaret A. Barry, 84, of Altoona, passed away Saturday at the Embassy of Woodland Park in Orbisonia. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Nazareno and Theresa (Labriola) Ciavarella, which included 7 sisters and 4 brothers.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, George; a daughter, Teresa (Wayne) Kramer, of Hanover; and a son, James (Karen) Barry, of Altoona. She is fondly in the hearts of her 6 grandchildren: Wayne Kramer III, Dena Barry, Winzor Kramer, James Barry Jr., Wyatt Kramer, and Wade Kramer; as well as her two great-grandchildren, Alana and Emma Barry.
Margaret married George D. Barry in 1966 in Altoona. A devoted wife, she accompanied him during his 26 year military service. After traveling different military bases for many years, they decided to retire in Altoona in 1982.
After arriving home in Altoona, she had a career at K-Mart until her retirement.
Following her retirement, she loved to spend her time going to local churches to play bingo. She enjoyed her girl’s trips to the casino and shopping. She looked forward to spending her time with her daughter and son’s families.
Margaret was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Friends will be received from 2-4pm and 6-8pm today, Jan. 4, 2022 in the Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30am Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
