Marie M. “Muffy” Malsatzki of Altoona died Friday, January 8, at the Winds of Mattern Orchard Assisted Living Community in Duncansville, PA. Muffy was 92.
Muffy, born February 20, 1928, was the daughter of Giacchino and Francesca (Pellegrino) Bruno. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horst E. Malsatzki, brothers Frank Manna, John Bruno and Arthur Bruno, and a sister, Rose Manna.
Muffy attended Altoona High School and was a retired associate of J.C. Penney and long-time employee of Wilt’s Florist. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church and active in Jaffa Shriners women’s groups. Muffy loved gardening, cooking, crafts, dogs, and playing games with friends and family. She was a faithful fan of Penn State sports and the Pittsburgh Steelers. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, she delighted in spending time
with family. Her love, support, and encouragement endeared her to her family and many friends. A special note of appreciation goes to her friends and neighbors at the Parkview Condominium who filled her days with great companionship and loving care.
Muffy is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Diana (John) Gibb, and Debora (Thomas) Dougherty; four grandchildren, John (Nipa) Gibb, Kristina (Tim) D’Amico, Ryan (Leighann) Smith, and Alicia Smith; three great-grandchildren, Elise D’Amico, Julian D’Amico and Caden Smith; sister-in-law Sylvia Malsatzki; nieces Joanna (Joe) Jiampietro and Valerie (Eric) Henry; and nephews John Manna and Christian (Courtney) Malsatzki.
Because of COVID restrictions, a memorial service will be held at a later date. The family suggests making donations in Muffy’s memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Society or to the charity of your choice.
