Nancy L. Caso, 93, of Altoona, passed away Friday at her home. She was born in Donora, daughter of the late Sam and Nunziata (DiVentura) Malavolta; and was later adopted by her cousin, Anthony, and his wife, Carmel DiVentura.
On May 28, 1949, she married Anthony J. Caso, who preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 2016, after 67 years of marriage.
Surviving are four grandchildren: Edward Sipes IV, Bobbi Jo Sponsler, Naomi Greskovich and Matthew Ruscio; five great-grandchildren: Emily, Elias, Caiden, Brody and Gabriella; many nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by three children: David Caso, Carol Ann Sponsler and Lisa Caso; two sisters, Rose Sismondo and Antoinette Rygiel; and four brothers: Benjamin, Jimmy, and Robert DiVentura and Sam Scalise.
Nancy was a 1947 graduate of Altoona High School and a 1948 graduate of the Altoona School of Commerce. She worked in an attorney’s office, Olsen Buick, and served 28 years as a pharmacy tech at Kopp Drug Store before retiring.
She enjoyed cooking and baking Italian cookies, which she shared with family and friends.
Nancy was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
Friends will be received from 9:30 to 11:15 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2022, at Santella Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated following the visitation at 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
