Olive L. Massaro, 90, of Altoona, passed away after a prolonged illness Thursday at the Lutheran Home in Hollidaysburg. She was born in Martinsburg, daughter of the late Grant and Marie (Rightenour) Weyandt. She later married Lawrence “Larry” Massaro Jr. and he preceded her in death on May 29, 2020.
She is survived by her two sons: Lawrence “Mel” Massaro (Judy) and Patrick “Rick” Massaro (Jamie); five grandchildren: Laura “Nikki” Massaro Kauffman (Christopher), Catherine Massaro, Christopher Massaro (Karen), Lisa (Massaro) Noel (Dane), and Matthew Massaro (Amanda); eight great-grandchildren: Collin Noel, Karenna Kauffman, Luke Noel, Jude Kauffman, Samantha Massaro, Elizabeth Massaro, Addison Massaro, and Liam Massaro; a sister, Susie Decker; and three brothers: Tim, Richard, and Terry Weyandt.
She was preceded in death by two brothers: Sonny and Irvin Weyandt.
Olive was a graduate of Woodbury High School and worked for Butterick in many departments.
She enjoyed reading, cooking, casinos, and spending time with her family. Her eyes lit up every time she had visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Olive’s most notable trait was her strength of character. She lived her life with integrity, and never backed down from what she believed was right.
Olive was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no service.
