Ralph A. Covino

Ralph A. Covino, 91, Altoona, passed away Thursday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Sabato and Rose (Pinto) Covino.

He is survived by a sister, Christine Raia; and several nieces and nephews. 

Ralph was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Minnie Iavasile and Josephine Ciaverella; and 5 brothers: Alfonse Covino, George, Nick, Carl and Lou Maria.

Ralph served in the United States Army and with the military police. He later retired as a dietary aide from the Veteran’s Hospital. He enjoyed going to the gym and co-owned Alfie’s Bar with his brother, Al.

Friends will be received from 3pm to 5pm on Monday, January 20, 2025 in the Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, with military honors. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
