Santina Mazzenga

Santina Mazzenga, 76, Altoona, passed away Tuesday morning at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Pontecorvo, Italy, daughter of the late Giuseppe and Rosa (Santopietro) Iorio. She later married Saverio Mazzenga and he preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 1997.

She is survived by a daughter, Nadia, and husband John Schimminger Jr.; a son, Carlo Mazzenga; two grandchildren: Elise and Evan Schimminger; and two sisters: Gina and Lisa Iorio.

Santina was a 1967 graduate of Altoona High School. She and her late husband owned Sam’s Italian Restaurant for over 21 years.

Santina was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, 2022, at Santella Funeral Home, where a vigil for the deceased will be held. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2022, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Committal will be at Calvary Cemetery.
