Shirley Y. Scalice, 80, Altoona, passed away Wednesday at UPMC Altoona. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Chester and Ina (Quarry) Stewart.
She later married Robert “John” Scalice and he preceded her in death on Feb. 24, 2024.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen Scalice; seven grandchildren: Andrew (Caitlyn) Scalice, Travis (Bailey) Scalice, Joshua (Liza) Scalice, Zachary, Abigayle, Anna-Grace and Nicolas; two great-grandchildren, Kayden and Mason Scalice; siblings: Linda (Pooch) Delozier, Mona (Ron) Leach, Lynn “Sonny” (Karen) Stewart, James (Tammy) Stewart, Stephen (Becky) Stewart, Kevin (Denise) Stewart and Dennis (Cheryl) Stewart; a brother-in-law, Frank Scalice; and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by two sons, Rob and Gregg Scalice; and a brother, Tom Stewart.
Shirley was a graduate of Altoona High School and Altoona Nursing School. She worked as a nurse for JC Blair Hospital and SCI Cresson.
She enjoyed yard-sales, gardening, cooking and word searches.
Shirley was a member of Altoona Alliance Church.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Santella Funeral Home. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
