Theresa A. (DeGennaro) Hollingshead

Theresa A. Hollingshead, 64, of Altoona, passed away Saturday at her home, in the arms of her husband and four children, from a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Gustine DeGennaro and surviving Winifred Conrad. Theresa married her husband, Jeffrey on Oct. 13, 1979. She is the love his life and they were happily married for 42 years.

Surviving is her husband; four children: Brittney (Sean) Graziosi, Mathew (Julia Alvarado) Hollingshead, and son, Andreh De La Torre, Kyla Hollingshead and Michael Hollingshead. Also surviving are her four siblings: Patty (DeGenarro), and the late Paul Dixon, Jeffrey (Nikki) DeGennaro, Rick DeGennaro, Alan (Tiffany) DeGennaro; six nieces and nephews: McKenna (Julian), Marina (Luke), Paige, Taylor, Alexander, and Julian; brother-in-law, Dick (Carol) Hollingshead, their eight children and 16 grandchildren.

Theresa worked beside her sister Patty for 43 years, first at Razor’s Edge and then Eclips hair salon. Her coworkers became her family and she made lifelong friendships with her clients.

Theresa was an adventurer. She loved to travel and document her adventures in her scrapbooks. All of her travels always included either her family or her best friend, Janie Jackson. She had a profound love for gardening. She and her husband spent hours outside tending to their garden and planting beautiful floral landscapes surrounding their home. One of her favorite places was her chair beside the window snuggled with her dog, Oscar, reading for hours.

Friends will be received from 2-4pm and 6-8 pm Friday, Feb. 18, 2022 in the Santella Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11am Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 416 6th Ave, Altoona, PA 16602.
