Vincent J. Pietrolungo, 92, of Altoona passed away Friday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Altoona, son of the late Vincenzo and Elizabeth (DelBiondo) Pietrolungo. On June 9, 1955 he married Marilyn J. Carriere and she preceded him in death on February 16, 2017
He is survived by four daughters: Nancy (Cliff) Cashman, Kathy (Art) DeVecchis, Vicki (John) Zerbee and Lori Pietrolungo; a son, Vinnie Pietrolungo (Karen); 11 grandchildren: Joe (Lindsay) Zerbee, John Zerbee, Jessica (Shane) Barr, Jill(Ryan) Pettit, Zachary DeVecchis, Benjamin DeVecchis, Casey Glass, Neil (Adriana) Pietrolungo, Erica (Fiance Tyler Mandley) Schroth, Olivia Pietrolungo, and Isabella Pietrolungo; 9 great-grandchildren: Hadley and Reagan Zerbee, Ellie, Colton, and Brody Barr, Myah and Mackenzie Glass, Aidan DeVecchis, and Rosalia Pietrolungo; A sister, Marie Zsifkov and sister-in-law, Nancy LaValle. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews
Vincent was preceded in death by 5 brothers: Albert, Orville, Herman, Anthony, and Arthur Pietrolungo; a sister, Angie Provenzano; and a grandaughter: Courtney Elizabeth DeVecchis.
He was an Altoona High School graduate where he went on to serve in the US Army during the Korean Conflict as a Private First Class. He retired from Hayes Large Architects after 44 years service as a Structural Draftsman.
He was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church where he had been active in serving on many church committees through the years
Vincent was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching football especially the Steelers and Penn State. He was a life long New York Yankees fan when it came to baseball and enjoyed golfing. He most of all loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home for the excellent care they provided our father for the past year.
Vincent was a loving husband and father and will be missed by all.
Family and Friends will be received at the 11 am Funeral Mass celebrated on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at St. Marks Catholic Church, Altoona. Friends are also invited to Calvary Cemetery, Altoona where committal and full military honors will be held following mass.
