William A. "Bill" Gehringer

William A. “Bill” Gehringer, 84, of Altoona, passed away Monday at UPMC Altoona. He was born in Reading, son of the late Clemonth P. and Anna (Dale) Gehringer.

On July 4, 1959, Bill married Gloria M. Colabove. 

Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years; two daughters, Andrea L. (Kevin) O’Grady and Annette L. (Randy) Reyer; a son, W. Alan (Vera) Gehringer; nine grandchildren: Jessica, Joshua, and Jake Reyer, Maximillian and Alexander Gehringer, Ryan, Ethan, Justin, and Allison O’Grady; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by an infant son, David Paul; and a sister, Beatrice McCarthy. 

Bill was a 1956 graduate of Cresson High School.

He served in the U.S. Army Reserve for six years.

Bill received his Electrical Drafting Diploma from Chicago Technical College in 1961. He retired in 2000 as co-owner and President of Tritex Sportswear Inc. 

His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Bill also enjoyed sports and was an avid golfer. He had a passion for planting flowers and taking care of his yard. 

Bill was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. 

At the request of the deceased, private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
